Kuan Yin Meets Mother Mary, 2010
13 x 16 1/2 image on 15 x 20 archival watercolor paper
$1,800

As a child, I was very connected with the images in my church of Mother Mary.  A few years ago I was painting an image of Kuan Yin and realized how they seemed to be the same energy to me — Compassionate Mothers who hear the cries of the world.

Kuan Yin and Mother Mary  — Mothers of Compassion, Keepers of the Light.  Dare to cross the threshold linking East with West.  Let there be no boundaries or thinking one is best.  As our Hearts open and we unite, we can move beyond the forms and find one Inner Light.

Nurture, 1999
13 x 16 1/2 image on 15 x 20 archival watercolor paper
$2,000

Of all my images, Nurture seems to be the most popular.  I feel that it belongs in the home of a woman who is deeply cherished and beloved by her family.  The bond between mother and child (both outer and inner child) can lead us to play and magic, which is so connected with emotion and water for me.

Ancient Wisdom, 2013
13 x 16 1/2 image on 15 x 20 archival watercolor paper
$1,200

Many years ago I had the dream that I was moving very slowly and fluidly and then realized that I was gently holding onto a giant turtle swimming underwater. It felt so peaceful, beautiful and I wondered if I could breath underwater.  I did -- and then thought "This must be what it could feel like to be a mermaid."

May the magic of the mythical mermaid fill our hearts with awareness, appreciation and respect for all creatures large and small that inhabit or visit the Sea.  Every life form is precious and has a part to play in the Great Mystery.  We ask to be mindful of this kinship as we share Mother Earth with other living creatures.

Life forms naturally change, evolve and with time disappear, making space for new species.  We ask that their disappearance happens naturally and not through human greed.
Let us have Gratitude and Compassion for all colorful and not so colorful creatures who have Seasoned the Sea.

Vesta, 2012
13 x 16 1/2 image on 15 x 20 archival watercolor paper
$2,000

I love the Greek and Roman mythology of the gods and goddesses.  The one I resonate with is Hestia - Vesta, the Goddess of the Hearth who has a very fertile interior life and represents that sacred inner flame in all of us.  She has her face mostly covered because she does not want to be connected with the Drama of the Olympian goddesses.

My sister, Dixie Gladstone, is a scholar of Goddesses and the creator of FeminineAstrology.com.  She writes this of Vesta:  "Vesta is Goddess of your Sacred Center, your Inner Flame.  When you contact Vesta you become a woman unto yourself.  And you have a right to be so.  Vesta has been referred to as "the Faceless Goddess" because she is removed from our everyday dramas and traumas.  She keeps us centered in ourselves so that we can accomplish our task.  We call on her when we are in need of getting the focus back to our Self.  When scattered from overwork or tiredness, she can help us realign with the FLAME at our True Center."
